  Adopt Guinness-Rescue Puppy

UPDATE: Guinness was adopted as of 5/11/08
Guinness is a 9 month old Kerry puppy being fostered in Ohio. His owners relinquished him to Rescue after the wife became ill, and they could not give a rambunctious terrier puppy the time and attention he needed.

Guinness was purchased from, in the words of the owners, a nice Amish family, i.e. a puppymill. They chose him because he was the shyest puppy in the litter, and they felt sorry for him, but were surprised when they took him home and he immediately hid under their porch! Because of this lack of early socialization, he startles easily at new or different sights and sounds, though recovers quickly with a little encouragement. He's also a bit clueless about basic canine etiquette, so any interactions with other dogs need to be carefully supervised and controlled while he continues to learn how to behave.

His foster mom describes Guinness as very energetic, pushy, intelligent, and a problem solver--a combination that can give you either a hellava dog or the dog from hell, depending on how much training, exercise, and leadership his new family is willing to provide! Guinness is the type of Kerry who will benefit from having a job to do, which could be as simple as escorting you on daily walks/runs and retrieving tennis balls and other toys, though he could also be an outstanding prospect for agility or other performance events. He will do best with someone who is able to continue training and socializing him--either an adult-only family or one with quiet, older children.

If you are interested in Guinness, please fill out and submit the Adoption Application from the USKBTC website, and send it to me at the address listed at the bottom of the application. The initial application is fairly short, a little more than a page, and costs nothing to submit. As always, primary consideration will be given to applicants in the same area as where the dog is located--in this case Ohio and surrounding states--as we will not ship Guinness.
