I have gone through the results on the AKC website to pull off the Agility Results from Kimberton All-Terrier trial. It was hard to find all the Kerries, so I might have missed some. If I did, please let me know so I can post a correction.

Hearding Request from Dave Yeager

I had the opportunity today to attend an AHBA herding event in Ocala FL. Other Kerry folks there today included Carol Postley, Virginia Payson and Chris Cagle.

Needless to say when we walked in with Kerry Blues, heads turned. I'm guessing many herding folks don't realize that Kerries have probational status with the AHBA. I'm proud to say that all 5 of the Kerries in today's trails qualified. In fact, Chris Cagle and Katlin finished their second leg and received their HCT title!

All of the Kerries in today's event did us proud working the rings. They remained calm and focused, showing the breeds natural abilities in herding. It was the first time I have had the opportunity to see a Kerry herding, and it was a very impressive sight. I'd say from the reactions of other spectators, I wasn't the only one who noticed their striking movement and drive in herding the sheep.

If you haven't tried herding, and there is an event in your area, I highly recommend it. It was a great opportunity for me to work with my girls at something they were bred for. If you have tried herding, I'm interested in hearing about your progress. Our status with the AHBA as a Multi Purpose Breed is dependent on meeting the milestone of progressing beyond HCT by at least four dogs from at least two different owners/handlers earning a JHD or higher title during the two year probation. Has anyone accomplished that goal?

Smelling like the farm, but smiling from ear to ear . . .

A Special Story About an Active Veteran
Kailey at 13
From Jourdy Bacon

Ch. Kailey's Irish Queen UD RE OA NAP NAJ
At age 13, Kailey has defied the saying that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks!" This year, after recovering from cruciate ligament surgery, Kailey and Jourdy started AKC's newest competition, Rally.

Having obtained her UD and many Agility titles, Kailey easily took to Rally. Each level in Rally required qualifying at three competitions. Kailey was entered in Novice and qualified in three out of three tries, the same happened in Advanced and she duplicated it in Excellent. She earned the three titles in only nine competitions, probably because she had spent 12 years training for all the competing she has done all her life. She obviously still enjoys being in the show ring! Our next goal is to continue on for the 10 double-qualifying trials for her REX Title. From Barb Thompson
Just wanted to let you know Ch Bangor's Here Comes Trouble got her CD in Prince Edward Island, Canada last weekend. She got 3 high in Novice B to boot!!! We are very proud of our newest dual titled girl.

And Bangor Blue Thunder (Otis), got his first two legs on his CD.

From Patty Sontag
Just want to let you know that we got our second CDX leg today! Fourteen dogs showed up and 5 qualified. We just missed the ribbons by 2 points! We also showed on Saturday, had a really GREAT run, but NQ'd on the retrieve on the flat because I had to give a second command to get him to move. The Charles River Dog Training Club hosted the show in Franklin, MA and the judges (both great) were Jim Hamm and Elizabeth "Tibby" Chase (Q'd under Tibby). I hope to have the opportunity to show under Jim Hamm again at this level. Both judges had nice things to day about Duffy (Wildside's Quiet Man, CD RN), which is always nice to hear. Happy Thanksgiving!

From Virginia Barishek, Philadelphia, PA
At the Penn Treaty KC Obedience trial on Thursday, 11/17, Andy (Garryowen's Smarty Pants, UD, NA, RE) qualified for the first time (after approx. 14 attempts) in Utility B, with a score of 195.5. Anyone who has gotten the UD in Utility A, then made the transition to B, will understand that this is a major deal. Andy was hampered on this trek by his nervous handler (me), who also took awhile figuring out what areas we needed to work on. However, he walked into the Utility B ring on Thursday, radiating an attitude of "Yeah, who's the man? I'm the man."

Also at Penn Treaty, Finn (Finbar's End of the Rainbow, RN) competed for the first time in Rally Advanced A. In other words, this is the first time he's done an entire class OFF LEAD at a trial. He not only qualified, but took 3rd Place with a score of 87. This is a big step forward for him, because the environment very similar to the one at All Stars, where he had a major meltdown. This time, he was much more confident, even with the noise and weird ceiling lights. He kept himself together beautifully.

On Friday, 11/18, at the Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association obedience trial, Andy qualified AGAIN in Utility B! Two days in a row!!

I'm very proud of both my boys!! They got major hugs and had a big treat of fancy food for dinner.

From Tracey Fulmer
Sending along an agility update on Bailey (Lynmar My Bleu Heaven, owned and operated by Tracey Fulmer). I'm thrilled to report that Bailey seems to be a natural at agility (as most Kerries are). After taking some introductory classes last winter and starting to compete just this August, I'm amazed at our progress. We're now running in Excellent A JWW and recently earned two legs of our Open Standard title (both legs earned at the Springfield Cluster this past weekend). My original goal was to see if we could get a title, but now I'm hooked (and I think Bailey is too!) Ribbon or no ribbon, what could be better than spending the entire day with your Kerry?
