5th Annual Montgomery 2004 All Terrier Agility Cluster
What a Kerry showcase this year proved to be, a truly suitable celebration of the Kerry’s versatility and potential!!

This year there were 14 Kerries entered in Agility (a 56% increase over 2003) – 7 in Excellent B, 1 in Excellent A, 5 in Novice B, and 1 in Novice Preferred. The 20” Excellent B class was dominated by the Kerries! The teams came from all over the continent, from Washington State to Vermont, from Florida to Ontario, Canada.

The entry included 1 MACH Kerry and 4 MX & MXJ Kerries. There were 3 breed Champions and 5 Obedience titlists, ranging from CD to UD.

Four (4) new titles were earned over the 3 days:
Eric Shannon’s Lookout Shannon’s Bailey Boo CDX AX MXJ finished his MX title.
Evelyn Gansfuss’ Tantara’s Cosmic Phoenix UD earned her NA and NAJ titles.
Lisa Frankland’s CH Casey’s Rae of Sunshine earned her NA and finished her CD at the concurrent All Terrier Obedience trial!

Two Kerries earned double Q’s (clean runs in Exc. B Standard AND Jumpers with Weaves on the same day):

The High Scoring Kerry of the cluster:
Bryan Kincaid’s “Daisy” - CH Kerigolf Flower Power MX MXJ with 300 points and a total of 15.49 seconds under Standard Course Time (SCT).

Individual Day Winners:

Wednesday
Lisa Frankland’s “Katie Rae” - CH Casey’s Rae of Sunshine - with 100 points and 26.47 seconds under SCT.

Thursday
Janet Beeby’s “Gabby” - MACH Keriland’s Talk About Town - with 200 points and 11.9 seconds under SCT.

Friday
Eric Shannon’s “Bailey” - Lookout Shannon’s Bailey Boo CDX AX MXJ - with 200 points and 5.8 seconds under SCT.

One thing is certain - we all had a great time, regardless of our degree of success. The weather was good, the fellowship was better, and the Kerries were great.

Too bad that there weren’t more spectators to see what great all-around dogs the Kerries are. There they were, running off lead, many without collars, working their hearts out, delighted to work with their special people and giving them their full attention. Some mistakes were made – usually by the handlers. But our Kerries did not criticize us for our mistakes – they just tried harder.

I highly recommend to those of you who want to make your Montgomery experience more complete, come and join us next year as spectators or participants. In either case, I guarantee that you will have a great time!
