  Agility Trial Results

The Kerries made a fantastic showing last week at the Montgomery County All Terrier Agility Trials. Nine kerries competed, and after a slow start the Kerry teams had an impressive three days full of ribbons and new titles. Hopefully we will have even more Kerries compete next year!

Some of the accomplishments:

"Dancer" (Blue Bay's Wind Dancer MX MXJ) and Brenda Vogel had 4 qualifying runs, 2 Double Q's in Excellent B, won High Scoring Kerry In Trial one day, and took High Scoring Kerry in Circuit.

"Tonka" (Can Ch Tantara's Honky Tonk Girl CDX MX MXJ ) and Eve Fishell had 4 qualifying runs & 1 Double Q in Excellent B.

For those who don't follow agility, a Double Q is a qualifying Agility Standard run and a qualifying Jumpers run on the same day. Double Q's in Excellent B (the most difficult level) are a major accomplishment requiring both speed and accuracy.

"Brighid" (Runkerry's Saucy Brighid AX AXJ) with Denise Aitchison had 3 qualifying runs and completed both her Excellent Standard and Excellent Jumpers titles.

"Daisy" (Ch. Kerigolf Flower Power OA AXJ) with Bryan Kincaid had 3 qualifying runs, completed both her Open Standard and Excellent Jumpers titles, and was High Scoring Kerry in Trial 2 out of 3 days.

"Bates" (Blue Bay's Hurricane Warning NA OAJ) with Brenda Vogel had 1 qualifying run and completed his Open Jumpers title.

"Andy" (Garryowen's Smarty Pants CDX NA) with Virginia Barishek had 2 qualifying runs and completed his Novice Standard Title.

"Phoenix"(Tantara's Cosmic Phoenix CDX) with Evelyn Gansfuss had 1 qualifying run.

"Tide" (Tantara's High Tide OA OAJ) with Eve Fishell and "Alley" (Rockwell's The Right Stuff) with Joy Ellwanger had great runs but did not qualify.

I would like to thank Inga Krause and Lotte Kroeger (Terkyra Kerries), Eve Fishell (Tantara), and USKBTC and for providing trophies. Eve deserves special thanks for coordinating the trophies and for enthusiastically cheering all participants!

I hope that someone will post corrections if my recollection of results is incorrect or incomplete.

Thank you Bryan for the great and accurate report.

Just a few additional comments:
Bryan's Daisy was the high scoring Kerry Wednesday and Friday and Brenda's Dancer was the High scoring Kerry Thursday.

It was very exciting for me to watch these young vigorous teams in the excellent class - Brenda with Dancer and Bates, Bryan with Daisy and Denise with Brighid. Now I am confident that the future for Kerries in Agility is assured and getting brighter all the time.

This year 3 teams qualified for the AKC National Agility Championships which will be held in conjunction with the Eukanuba Breed and Obedience Invitational Championships in Long Beach CA December 2, 3 & 4.

These are:
Gabby ( Keriland's Talk About Town MX MXJ)and Janet Beeby
Dancer ( Blue Bay's Wind Dancer MX MXJ) and Brenda Vogel
Tonka ( Tantara's Honky Tonk Girl CDX MX MXJ)and Eve Fishell

Sadly, Brenda will not be able to come to Long Beach but Janet and I will be there.

I am certain that next year there will be as many or more Kerries at the Championships. I expect to see both Bryan and Denise to qualify and I am certain that Brenda and Janet will qualify again. And these are only among the Kerries I know.

Lest the membership thinks these performance Kerries are somehow different than those in the Conformation ring, those of you, who were at the Montgomery show last Sunday saw 3 of these agility Kerries doing their stuff in the breed ring, Daisy as a special and Alley and Tide in the Open bitch class.

And yes, Jane, Tonka is sporting her brand new CDX obtained at Wine Country.
